Ville to Ville Pre-Event FAQs
🏁 General Overview
What is the Ville to Ville Craft Brew Relay?
- A one-day team running event covering ~72 scenic miles from Asheville, NC to Greenville, SC, focused on craft beer, community, and camaraderie.
How is the race structured?
- Teams complete 12 legs, averaging 6 miles each.
- Standard teams consist of 6 runners, but teams of 3, 4, or 5 are also allowed.
- Each runner completes 2 legs (distances vary from 3 to 9 miles).
👥 Team Registration & Rosters
What is the team size and setup?
- Teams of 3–6 members are allowed.
- Running orders and leg assignments differ depending on team size.
Who is responsible for the team?
- A captain must be designated. They handle registration, communication with V2V HQ, pace estimates, and roster updates.
Are there age requirements?
- Yes. All participants must be 21+ years old. IDs are checked at packet pickup.
Can rosters change after registration?
- Yes, with deadlines:

- March 5, 2026: Preliminary roster lock (team name & pace).
- March 26, 2026: Last day for edits.
- After April 6, 2026: $25 change fee applies.
🕒 Pace & Start Times
How are starting times determined?
- Based on your team’s 10K pace estimates, the captain's team pace estimate, and the number of teams arriving/departing each transition area. Teams do not start based on pace only.
- Teams must stay within ±30 seconds/mile of their projected pace to avoid holds or skipped legs.
What happens if we’re ahead or behind pace?
- Too fast: You’ll be held at a transition zone and incur a 30-minute penalty.
- Too slow: You may be asked to skip a leg to stay on schedule.
🚐 Vehicles & Driving
How many vehicles are allowed?
- Only one vehicle per team.
- Must display the V2V ID hangtag at all times.
What kinds of vehicles are approved?
- Recommended: Vans, mini-vans, large SUVs.
- Prohibited: RVs, mini-buses, trailers, limos.
Can we interact with runners while driving?
- No, except in emergencies or if a runner is off-course.
🎽 Gear & Safety
What safety gear is required?
- Two sets per team: Reflective vests, headlamps, blinking LED lights.
- Gear must be worn before 7:30am or after 7:00pm, or during low visibility.
Are hydration systems required?
- Yes, if the Wet Bulb Globe Temperature reaches a risk level.
- Carry water bottles or hydration packs—no water stations on course.
Can runners wear headphones?
- No. For safety reasons, headphones and earbuds are strictly prohibited.
📦 Packet Pickup & Welcome Reception
When and where is packet pickup?
- Thursday, April 9 (Greenville) – Southernside Brewing Co, 4–7 pm
- Friday, April 10 (Asheville) – Asheville Sports Club, 4–7 pm
- Saturday, April 11 – At start line (arrive 20 min early)
Who needs to attend?
- Captains are required, but all team members are encouraged to join the welcome party!

- 2026 Theme: Saturday Morning Cartoons
- Get ready to throw it back—this year’s relay theme is Saturday Morning Cartoons! Think Scooby-Doo, Rugrats, Ninja Turtles, or whatever you couldn’t wait to watch in your pajamas. Dress up, decorate those vans, and let’s bring our favorite cartoons to life out on the course!

🧭 Course Navigation & Support
How do we stay on course?
- Use the RaceJoy app, printed or digital leg maps, and course signage.
- Runners are responsible for knowing their route.
What if someone gets injured?
- Another team member may substitute mid-leg if needed.
- Teams must inform V2V HQ and adjust their runner plan accordingly.
🌧️ Weather & Emergencies
Will the race be canceled for bad weather?
- Not usually. Severe conditions may delay or modify the event.
- Teams should review the Lightning Procedure and submit a Timing Adjustment Form if delayed.
